Rainier Gonzalez ’95 – Political Science Alumnus


As founder and CEO, Rainier Gonzalez manages the long term strategic direction and overall growth of Pacer Corporation, a company that acquires and turns around financially distressed businesses.

Gonzalez has focused on the operation of hospitals within Pacer. Hispanic Business Magazine ranked Pacer 116 out of the Top 500 Hispanic-owned businesses. The magazine also honored Gonzalez with the Entrepreneur of the Year Rising Star Award in 2007.

Modern Healthcare Magazine named him as one of 2008’s Top 25 Minority Executives in Healthcare. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Gonzalez was an associate in the prestigious Washington, D.C. law firm of Sidley Austin, Brown & Wood.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from FIU.

He earned his law degree from Indiana University School of Law and worked as a law clerk for the Honorable Federal Judge Denny Chin of the Southern District of New York.
