Adam Stewart ’03 – Hospitality & Tourism Management Alumnus

Adam Mark Stewart has been a part of the hospitality industry all his life – his father, Gordon “Butch” Stewart, founded the Sandals Resort chain in 1981. Today, the 29-year-old hotelier is CEO of Sandals Resorts International, where he oversees operations of a Caribbean empire comprising 23 properties on five islands.

Under his leadership, Sandals has experienced unprecedented growth, innovation and development. In summer 2009, the company acquired the Four Seasons in Great Exuma Island, Bahamas, and reopened it last winter as the Sandals Emerald Bay; expanded operations in Jamaica and Antigua; and introduced boutique villas on a private island in the Bahamas.

To broaden the brand’s appeal, Stewart enhanced and developed partnerships to launch new teen and tween programming, as well as Island Routes, the Caribbean’s premier tour company.

A forward-thinking preservationist, he founded The Sandals Foundation in 2008 to protect the area’s ecosystems.
