Shlomi Dinar, International Relations Professor

I’ve been at FIU for six years. What I love most about being in the School of International Relations and Public Affairs is interacting with our students.

Our student body is diverse, hard working and determined. I believe that our department’s multidisciplinary nature is our major strength compared to other traditional political science or international relations departments across the United States.

My particular area of research pertains to the intersection between international environmental politics, security studies and international negotiation. I also have the pleasure of directing the Middle East Society.

One of the goals of the organization is to expose our student body and the community to local and international experts who come to speak at FIU on matters related to the Middle East.

I think opening a dialogue between the university and the community is extremely important.
