Michael Moran, Hospitality Professor


I’ve been a chef instructor at FIU’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, my alma mater, for almost 20 years and a chef for even longer. I’ve had the chance to work with many incredible chefs, nationally and internationally and I’m proud to say that I’ve even cooked for royalty.

I was the executive chef for King Hussein and Queen Noor of Jordan for a few years. One of my greatest passions, however, remains my career as a teacher.

The hospitality business is an exciting one, and through my work with the Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival, which benefits programs in the School of Hospitality at FIU, I’ve seen many doors open for my students.

Coordinating the annual event is still a lot of work, but it’s great fun and a constant source of pride for me.
